A verse-by-verse walk through the Book of James

A faith you can walk in.

James is the Proverbs of the New Testament, and he will not let your faith sit still. The Shoe Leather Faith takes James out of Sunday and puts him into Monday — where you go to a real job, carry real burdens, and have to live what you believe in front of a watching world.

The Shoe Leather Faith book cover

Why this book

Faith that never moves is not faith yet.

Too much teaching never leaves the study. It stacks up abstractions and calls it discipleship. James will have none of it. He writes for people in the thick of life — facing trials, holding their tongues, fighting favoritism, waiting on God when the answer is slow.

As a pastor of more than forty-six years who has also worked in the technology world since 1984, I wrote this commentary the way I have to live: explanation, illustration, and application, with application above all. The aim is simple — a faith that puts on its shoes and walks out the door.

Inside the book

Built to be lived, not just read

Verse by verse

A careful, faithful walk through all five chapters of James in plain, unhurried language.

Concrete, not abstract

Every truth comes with an everyday handhold, so theology lands where you actually live.

Application above all

Each passage ends pointed at Monday morning — what to do, not merely what to know.

For the tested

Written for anyone in a hard season who needs a faith that stands up under real pressure.

Honest with hard texts

No cheap answers. The difficult words of James are met head-on and with reverence.

A lasting gift

A book to keep, mark up, and hand to someone you love who needs it.

For groups & classes

A ready-made Bible study.

You can read The Shoe Leather Faith on your own and gain a richer understanding of the Book of James. It also works beautifully as a guide for a group. If you teach a Sunday-school class, lead a home Bible study, or have ever wanted to start one, this book is built for that room.

The verse-by-verse structure keeps everyone on the same page, and the application focus gives a group something real to talk about and to do — together.

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” James 1:22 · KJV

“I love this book. I can’t put it down. We may not get dinner tonight.”
