About Robert
I have spent my life on two roads that meet in one place: the conviction that truth is meant to be lived. One road is the pastorate. The other is a career in information technology that began in 1984. Both have taught me the same lesson — faith is proven not in theory, but on Monday morning.
Credentials & training
A bi-vocational life
I have worked in information technology since 1984. For twenty years I served at IBM as a curriculum developer and a software systems engineer, and before that at Micromuse, the company IBM acquired. Along the way I had the privilege of teaching customers across three branches of the Armed Forces, the Defense Information Systems Agency, and the Central Intelligence Agency.
That career has now become its own ministry of craftsmanship. I founded Two Swords Digital Solutions, where I build professional, search-optimized websites and digital tools for small businesses and ministries. I continue to study and teach the newest tools, including recent work in agentic AI at Johns Hopkins and AI for business at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business.
Pastor & church planter
I have pastored and planted churches for more than forty-six years. Today I shepherd a congregation in Irving, Texas, that is home to three congregations of Indian believers worshiping in Telugu and Tamil. I have also served as a men's-conference speaker on fatherhood and as a chaplain in a state mental hospital, ministering to some of the most difficult and forgotten among us.
My spiritual gift is teaching, and my aim never changes: to make the Word of God plain, concrete, and livable, so that ordinary people can follow Christ in the ordinary hours of the week.
A missionary-minded family
Judy and I have walked together since 1980. She grew up in Taiwan as a missionary’s daughter and speaks fluent Mandarin, and together we have given ourselves to missions — first among Chinese believers, and now among Indian believers here in Texas and abroad. We are missionary-minded to the core.
God blessed us with eight children, all of whom we homeschooled, and with twenty-three grandchildren so far. Family is not a footnote to my ministry; it is the first place faith is meant to be lived.
Beyond the desk
When Judy and I are not working or ministering, you may find us underwater. We are scuba divers and shark divers — a shared adventure that keeps wonder alive and reminds us how vast and creative our God truly is.
Professional background
I remain open to select opportunities that fit my experience in instructional design, technical enablement, and applied AI. You are welcome to review my résumés below.
The writing
My books carry the same conviction into print — verse-by-verse studies for a faith that works in the real world.
